Kudos to . . . . . Us!
Photographer Steve Mease is fundraising for a college scholarship fund with several Snapped4U galleries of the school’s commencement. Steve posted this on our Timeline: “Thanks to Snapped4U for making it easy to post hundreds of photos and make them available to a broad audience. Hoping this works and helps raise a lot of money for the scholarship fund. I put together 4 galleries...

Update
Our kudos to Photographer Tom Maxwell are in need of an update! Tom used a New Year’s Eve gala as a fundraiser for the Children’s Cancer Association, and some recent sales from that gallery have pushed his success past $500! Great job, Tom!

Zumbathon Gallery Success!
Kudos to photographer Steve Mease for his very successful Zumbathon galleries! The large, enthusiastic group at the Zumbathon made it a great choice of events to shoot, and Steve gave the event-goers a nice selection of pictures to choose from — photo-booth shots of individuals and groups of friends with a fun, bright backdrop and also action shots of the dance session. He also did a...

Charitable Donation Articles for Photographers
These articles might be helpful to photographers who have made, or are thinking of making, charitable donations. It is still best to consult an accountant or tax attorney, but perhaps these ideas will help you think of questions to ask. Changes Coming Soon!
1. Snapped4U will soon offer the option to post galleries specifically for fundraising! Fundraising Galleries will be free to post and will also give fundraisers the opportunity to choose their own photo price for each gallery. To use this option, at least $1/photo sold must be donated to a school, church, animal shelter/rescue, or other charitable organization. We will collect information...

"A Dog's Best Friend"  →
A Snapped4U gallery of wonderful dog photos caught my eye, so I Googled photographer Joseph Frazz and found this River View Observer article that I think is worth sharing. Check out Joe’s Snapped4U dog gallery and even more of his work at Flickr. (The Observer’s reference to smugmug is no longer current.) Joe is available for private shoots and can be emailed at frazzzz@mac.com.

Great Gallery Promotion Idea!
Photographer Christi Patterson is using a clever and successful method for promoting her galleries. She doesn’t charge up front for a shoot. Instead, she advises the event coordinator that for each photo sold at Snapped4U, $3.50 will be deducted from the bill. This both motivates the event coordinator to promote the gallery and guarantees a minimum for Christi.

Santa Paws Fundraising Success
We have a very successful Santa Paws fundraising gallery to report — Photographer Sarina Bower and PAWS of Centre County, PA had a $200 fundraising goal and over $260 has been raised! Over 90% of Sarina’s photos were sold! Three weeks in advance, Sarina did a photo shoot for the flier that PAWS then designed and posted. The volunteer Santa wore a donated suit. Sarina handed out...

Recent Improvements :)
Not long ago we responded to requests from photographers and added a couple of features that seem to be quite popular. First, there are now visit counters for each gallery. The count is of visits, not unique visitors. When a photographer is logged in, visits to his/her own gallery are not counted. The counts began on September 26. Also, we now offer a message box for photographers to post...

PROMOTE YOUR GALLERY!
The very best option is to post direct links (the gallery url) where customers will see them.  This can be done even before the shoot.  Just create your gallery to obtain the url, then upload the photos and post the gallery later. Event gallery customers will be the people in the photos, and likely your only connection to them will be the event you shot, so post the link on a website or facebook...

Top Tips
1.  The photos that sell are of posed smiling faces. Candid and distant shots do not sell.  2. Quick and easy editing tools are free at Picasa.com.  With a little practice you can straighten and crop in about 20 seconds and greatly enhance a photo.  3, Shoot at eye level to get the most flattering shots.  Shooting from a bad angle can not be corrected by editing!  4.  People must find your...

Using Snapped4U for Prom & Graduation Photos
Snapped4U is a great new option for prom and graduation photos!   By using Snapped4U, photographers have far less work — just shoot, edit, and post.  No order processing, no printing, no deliveries.  The photos are sold online as jpeg files priced at $4.   Customers enjoy immediate delivery by email, easy photo-sharing, and better value.  Consider the price of an order of jpeg files at $4/each...

Announcing Changes to Terms and Features
We are working on some major changes at Snapped4U!  One change will involve showing the photographer’s name next to his/her galleries and having it be one of the search criteria.  In most cases, we’re quite sure photographers will like being identified, since it should be good for business, but just in case there are some that prefer not to be identified, we thought we should give you...

Message Your Customers!
We strongly suggest posting galleries ASAP, but when that’s just not possible, consider using a placeholder such as the above.  Create a jpeg message with a filename such as “000” that will alphanumerically precede all others.  Having a message posted ASAP, even prior to the event, will help your sales!  Keep in mind that customers are visitors to Snapped4U and probably not familiar with the...

Temporary problem on Account Pages
The Photographers’ Account Pages currently have a problem that we are looking into.  Payments Received is correct, but Total Sales and Current Balance are not.  This is likely due to an improvement that was just made to the Sales Ledgers yesterday.  Previously, the list of sales in the Sales Ledger was in no particular order.  We thought it would be helpful to have the most recent sales...

Snapped4U: Event-Goers Photography
Think of Snapped4U less as “Event Photography” and more as “Event-Goers Photography!” Get shots of people at events, not just the events themselves. Get the shots they can’t buy as postcards!!   If their photo will be in your gallery, they are much more likely to keep your business card and check it out.  Most people who know their picture will be published online will want to see it, so be sure...

Legal Question
I received a question from a photographer about the legality of selling photos at Snapped4U.  Specifically, she’d been shooting a car show and had been questioned by the owner of one of the cars.  I took her question to an attorney, and this is what I learned:  Photographing property is a very gray area, and, as for photographing people, the safest approach is to explain that your photos...

Identify your customers--
Success with Snapped4U depends on having a target group of customers.  When the pictures are of people, the customers will likely be the people in the photos.  When the photos are of an event, the customers are usually the event-goers, whether or not they are in the photos.  In either case, it’s important to recognize who your customers will be and make certain they know where to find your...
